Carol Gibbon - Festival Chair Person

Carol is a `Swindon girl' born and brought up in Rodbourne Cheney. She spent 31 years in the Civil Service, in Southampton, London and Leeds, before retiring back to Swindon in 2001. She became active in community life, joining the Old Town Festival in 2003, and became its Vice Chair. She took over as Chair in 2011, when Brian Mattock retired.

Carol says:

'The Festival is hard work, but it's fun and the best reward you can get is seeing just how much everyone enjoys themselves at the Festival events, and knowing that you've organising something that the community want to take part in. If we all gave back to our communities just a little of what we get out, then our local communities would be vibrant and thriving places in which to live.'
